Redefining Care: Creating homes at ivolve
Anonymous, Support Worker
In the grand tapestry of life, no one dreams of ending up in a care home. We grow up aspiring to be doctors, firefighters, police officers, astronauts, and film stars. But life often has its own plans, and sometimes, we find ourselves needing the support of a care home to achieve our goals. For some of us, we’ve experienced moments in our lives that make us reflect on the perception of care homes and question why they have to feel and function like traditional institutions.
Can a care home not be a place that feels like home, and even better, a place that nurtures aspirations rather than hindering them?
Here at ivolve, we do our best to challenge the typical notion of what a care setting is. How does it feel to the individuals we support? Does it resonate with their dreams and desires?
Let’s take a moment to step into the shoes of someone who may find themselves seeking refuge at one of our services. Imagine the courage it takes to embrace a different path, one that involves relying on others for support. What is something happened to any of us, that meant we would need to rely on others for support? What if our own aspirations were still within reach, but we needed a little extra help to grasp them?
Our care settings are not your typical care homes. We endeavour to create a place where the traditional confines of “care” blur into a nurturing environment that fosters growth and achievement. We work closely with the people that we support to understand what support they need to thrive.
How do we create an environment where aspirations flourish, rather than wither away? At ivolve, we believe that everyone deserves a chance to pursue their dreams, no matter the twists and turns life may throw their way. We want to create places where the people we support don’t just exist, but truly live. It’s not about being defined by the label of a care home; it’s about redefining what it means to receive care.
