Phoenix Cottages

Phoenix House is located in New Mills, a small quaint village in the beautiful Peak District, surrounded by countryside and picturesque scenery. It is a six-bedroom home with three Residential houses located on the same site. The houses are called Phoenix Cottage, Phoenix House and Phoenix Lodge. All bedrooms are ensuite with walk-in showers and there is a communal lounge, kitchen-diner, laundry room and garden with summer house. The homes specialise in supporting adults who have a learning disability, autism, mental health and challenging behaviours.

Our colleagues are trained in PECS and Makaton to support people with a range of communication preferences. People take part in activities in the home and outdoors, offering the people we support the opportunity to get involved in their local community. The team will work with the person if they wish to get involved in various community groups for volunteer work, college courses and other activities of interest to promote their health and wellbeing. Every year we have a large festival in the garden where we celebrate living here at Phoenix with lots of stalls, food and activities. We also have fortnightly craft sessions and access to reflexology and aromatherapy massages.

The home supports two males and two females with ages ranging from 20s to 40s. The ideal person to move into the home would be male, will enjoy spending time with others, and won’t mind a noisy environment as at times it can get noisy. As there are four flights of stairs, they must have good mobility.
